The Oregon State Penitentiary Returns to Normal Operations
The Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP) transitioned from modified lockdown to normal operations today. The Penitentiary was placed on lockdown December 5, 2011, following multiple inmate fights on the recreation yard between Hispanic inmates.
Visiting returned to normal operations on Friday, December 9, 2011.  Monday morning, the OSP Executive Team reviewed weekend progress and made the decision to restore normal operations for all institutional activities.
"Bringing the institution back to normal operations is a slow and methodical process.  Inmate behavior determines how smoothly the transition occurs," said Superintendent Jeff Premo.
The decision to return to normal operations was based on the continued appropriate behavior of the general institution population.
