TWO WORK CREW INMATES INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITALS
This afternoon, two minimum-custody inmates were injured while working on an outside work crew in the Tillamook State Forest. One inmate has been transported by Life Flight to a Portland-area hospital; his family has been notified. The other has been transported to Tillamook County for treatment and will return to the institution later today.
The inmates are part of a South Fork Forest Camp (SFFC) work crew, performing work in conjunction with the Oregon Department of Forestry. While clearing vegetation on a hillside, the two inmates fell down a steep slope, causing injuries that required transport for outside medical care.
SFFC houses nearly 200 inmates who are within four years of release. It is a minimum-security work camp located approximately 28 miles east of Tillamook, just off the Wilson River Highway.
