36- old female inmate escapes from Oregon women´s prison

Tracey Lee Poirer, 36, received from Douglas County on July 25, 1991, to serve life without parole from the crime of two counts aggravated murder, escaped from the Oregon Women´s Correctional Center in Salem on Friday, August 28, 1998 between the hours of 4:49 a.m. and 5:20 a.m. Inmate Poirer appeared to have escaped through a hole in the fence under cover of darkness and was missed during the distribution of morning food trays.

On her most recent convictions inmate Poirer had been in the custody of the Oregon Department of Corrections since July 25, 1991. She is white, 5´1" in height, weighs 115 lbs., and has red hair and blue eyes. She has multiple tattoos on her shoulders and upper arms.

The Oregon State Police investigation is including the possibility that Poirer received assistance from outside the institution. They are seeking a 1994 red Toyota pickup with an Oregon license plate TVB 502, as a vehicle of possible interest in the case. Since a criminal investigation is underway, further information regarding the capture and return of inmate Poirer will be the responsibility of the Oregon State Police.
