DOC Seeks Edison Samuel
Santiam Correctional Institution inmate walks away from a work crew

At approximately 11:00 this morning, Inmate Edison Wayne Samuel, #4182333, a minimum-custody inmate from Santiam Correctional Institution in Salem, walked away from a work crew that had been performing maintenance tasks at the Little Nash Sno-Park (US 20 and Hwy. 126) near Santiam Pass in Linn County. Mr. Samuel left his crew to use the restroom. He failed to return to his work site and the correctional officer supervising the crew was unable to locate him.
 
Mr. Samuel, 44, is a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5'7" tall and weighs 150 lbs. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue chambray shirt, and a blue denim jacket, all stenciled with "inmate" in orange.He was admitted to prison on August 7, 2001, and was due to be released on July 22, 2003. He was serving 30 months for delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance from Lane County.
 
The DOC Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the State Police and the Linn County Sheriff's Office have been notified. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call the non-emergency number of their local law enforcement agency or the DOC Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 503-945-0976.
