The Oregon Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit is asking for the public´s assistance in locating Daniel Lee Gardner, an inmate who walked away from a work crew van yesterday in Portland.
 
Gardner, 36, is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5´3" tall and weighs 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue chambray work shirt, a blue sweat shirt and work boots.
 
Gardner was incarcerated at Columbia River Correctional Institution in Portland on Multnomah County convictions for burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and mischief. He was admitted to prison in October 2001 and had a release date of March 31, 2003.
 
Gardner was assigned to a minimum-custody work crew that was on its way to McIver State Park. He left the work crew van when it stopped for gas at 115th and Sandy Boulevard shortly after 8 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2002.
 
Anyone siting Gardner or having other information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 503-945-9030 or their local law enforcement agency´s non-emergency number.
