Nicholas Delbert Smith, 26, walked away at 11:05 this morning from a work crew that was weeding ditches at 45th and Sunnyview in Salem. The minimum-custody work crew was based at Mill Creek Correctional Facility in Salem.
 
Inmate Smith is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 6´1" and weighs 185 lbs. He was admitted to prison in April and was due to be released in January 2005. He was serving 13 months from Benton County on one count of Robbery III. He was wearing Prison Blues denim jeans and a blue t-shirt, both stenciled with "inmate" in orange.
 
The Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the Oregon State Police and local law enforcement agencies are investigating. Anyone with information on Inmate Smith´s whereabouts should contact the non-emergency number of their local law enforcement agency or the Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 503-945-9030.
