Prison Inmate Dies Following Apparent Suicide Attempt

At approximately 9:19 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2007, Inmate Robert J. Miller was found hanging in a single-person cell in the Intensive Management Unit at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario. 
 
Prison staff and paramedics performed CPR on Inmate Miller and transported him to Holy Rosary Medical Center by ambulance. He was listed in critical condition until his death Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at approximately 7:55 p.m. with family members present.
 
Inmate Miller, 22, was admitted to prison on February 20, 2003 from Klamath County for a conviction of Robbery 2.  His projected release date was February 6, 2008.
 
As with all deaths of state prisoners, the Oregon State Police are investigating.
