Public Services
In 2006, the Public Services Division was created, headed by Colette S. Peters, who is both the Department of Corrections’ Assistant Director for Public Services and Inspector General. The new division comprises Public AffairsSpecial Investigation UnitResearchRules and PoliciesHearings UnitProject Management
 
Special Investigations Unit
The Special Investigations Unit is managed by Colette S. Peters, who is Assistant Director for Public Services as well as Inspector General. The Department of Corrections has had an Inspector General since the position was created as the result of a recommendation included in a 1990 report to the governor.
 
The Special Investigations Unit provides an oversight function on behalf of the director and deputy director of the Department of Corrections. The Special Investigations Unit is responsible for internal and external investigations, fugitive apprehension, and drug investigations. The unit supports the agency´s compliance with missions and goals. The division also coordinates the inmate drug urinalysis testing program.
