This year DOC recognizes more than 150 employees who have reached 20 years or more with the department.  This is truly a testament to the loyalty of our staff.

Lifesaving Award

Community Corrections Outsanding Service Award
The Community Corrections Outstanding Service Award is presented to the community corrections employee, contractor, elected official, citizen or team of such indiviudals who displayed an uncommon commitment to the profession of community corrections, or who performed responsibilities in a manner above and beyond normal duties that greatly assisted or enhanced community corrections.
 
This year we are proud to honor Karen Caskey with the Welcome Home Oregon program as the 2009 Community Corrections Outstanding Service Award.

Outstanding Citizen Award & Outstanding Volunteer Award
Outstanding Citizen Award
The Outstanding Citizen Award is presented to any citizen or team of citizens who has worked diligently and capably on behalf of the department. This year we are proud to present the following three individuals with an Outstanding Citizen Award.

Outstanding Volunteer Award

Outstanding Service Awards
Outstanding Service Awards are given to any employee or team of employees who display an uncommon commitment to the profession and/or the community. The individual or team participated in a special assignment or operation requiring thoroughness, conscientiousness, determination and initiative in the performance of a difficult assignment, or the action performed brough honor or distinction to the Department.

Humanitarian Award
The humanitarian award is presented to any employee who distinguished him or herself by directly performing an action that displayed exceptional bravery and/or heroism during a rescue effort, natural disaster or other life-threatening or catastrophic event. The employee participated on his/her own time and did not receive monetary compensation.  This award can also be presented to an employee who provided outstanding volunteer service to his/her community.
 
This year we are proud to honor two individuals with the humanitarian award.

Contractor of the Year
The Contractor of the Year Award is presented to a business or individual working on contract with the Department of Corrections who has made a significant contribution toward the Department’s mission, vision and values. 
 
This year we are proud to recognize Kathy Inscore, Student Record/Database Management Secretary for Blue Mountain Community College as the 2009 Department of Corrections Contractor of the Year.

OCE Employee of the Year
Oregon Corrections Enterprises is a semi-private organization whose mission in part is to provide meaningful work opportunities for inmates. Each year OCE selects one person from their staff who represents excellence in carrying out the mission of both OCE and DOC. Please join us in congratulating Janet Thompson as the 2009 OCE Employee of the Year.

Employee of the Year
The employee of the year is an individual who has performed their duties in a manner above and beyond the normal guidelines for his or her assigned position. 
 
It is our pleasure to announce the 2009 Department of Corrections Employee of the year, Dennis Wallace – Supply Specialist at the Central Distribution Center.

Officer of the Year
The Correctional Officer of the Year exemplifies professionalism, serves as an excellent role model to other staff and inmates, and is a credit to the entire field of public safety.
 
This year out of nearly 2,400 correctional officers within the Department, we are pleased to announce that Officer Daniel Bain from Snake River Correctional Institution as the 2009 Correctional Officer of the Year. 

Manager of the Year
The Manager of the Year Award is presented to an individual who has displayed outstanding performance that has greatly assisted the department.
 
It is our pleasure to announce Hank Harris as the 2009 Department of Corrections Manager of the Year. 

Award of Merit
The Award of Merit is presented to employees who, while serving in an official capacity, distinguished themselves by directly performing an action that displayed outstanding bravery and/or heroism. This year we are proud to present 15 merit awards.

Amos Reed Award
The recipient of the Amos Reed Award is selected by the director and presented to an employee within the Department of Corrections who has served exceptionally well in his or her regular work assignment, and has displayed outstanding leadership qualities in areas of mentorship, team building, and personal and professional integrity.
 
This year, Director Max Williams and Deputy Director Mitch Morrow are proud to present the award to someone whose nomination details his leadership qualities, including creativity and resourcefulness, possessing self-discipline and credibility, and expertise in correctional programs and fiscal management.
 
It is our honor to present the 2009 Amos Reed Award to OSP Superintendent Brian Belleque.
