INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST 4
(Desktop Analyst/Customer Service)

$3,536 - $4,875 MONTHLY


This position is with the Administrative Services Division and located in Salem, Oregon. The Information Services Section is seeking a dynamic individual to provide user desktop support, both onsite and remote, for software and hardware issues. This recruitment will establish a list of qualified applicants and will be used to fill the current vacancy only.

Primary Responsibilities:

This position is located in Salem, provides for customer support through the Desktop Services Team, and the Customer Service Center. 

 

The work may also involve travel to Department of Justice offices within the State of Oregon.  This work is completed by phone and on-site desktop support, knowledge of automated software installs, printer maintenance, hardware replacement and warranty replacement, knowledge of Microsoft deployment practices using RIS and group policy. Primary duties include:

  • Diagnose and respond to unusual user problems via phone, email, remotely and in person to a multi-location environment by resolving software and/or hardware problems encountered by employees.
  • Schedule service requests and troubleshoot multiple systems. 
  • Serve as advocate for the business needs of the department and its employees, appropriately conveying identified needs for additions or changes to technologies or IS services that assist the department in accomplishing its work and gaining best benefit from technology investments.
  • Assist the team leader and/or management in the planning, implementation and deployment of new software, technologies and projects that pertain to the repair, patch or upgrade of software products.
  • Respond to requests for assistance received by telephone, email and Helpstar automated requests.
  • Create and document HelpStar Tickets as needed.

 

 

Working Conditions:

This position’s established work schedule is Monday through Friday. Out of town travel to other department offices is required at times on short notice.  Some overtime and changes in working hours may be required to meet installation and upgrade schedules or operation maintenance and repair demands.  Overtime may be required with minimal notification, including work through scheduled lunch or breaks to complete work, or provide for coverage or support. A valid Oregon Driver’s License is required.

 

Information Services has a team oriented environment and demonstrates the on-going determination to continually improve and enhance this environment.  Working in a team oriented environment requires participative decision making and cooperative interactions among staff and management.  Team participation requires being prepared for meetings; bringing issues and solutions for the team to evaluate and/or resolve; obtaining agreement through the use of consensus when appropriate; giving and receiving feedback; committing to supporting and helping other team members; sharing in the leadership of the team and actively supporting decisions made by the management team.  The person in this position may also be required to participate in cross functional or problem solving teams.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Your PD100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the qualifications stated in this section. To receive credit, your application form must clearly show that you have: 

  • Two years of professional information systems experience which includes developing, maintaining, and installing information systems, and analyzing systems. Experience must include activities that demonstrate user experience in three of the following software applications:
  • Microsoft:  Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, or Visio; and either

(a) at least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; OR 

(b) two more years of information systems experience.

 

Note:  To receive credit for a degree or coursework in a related field, you must submit a photocopy of your transcripts.
