The Oregon Department of Revenue is currently recruiting for
OFFICE SPECIALIST 1
(CAFÉ Support)
to join our Personal Tax and Compliance Division – CAFE Section in Salem.
This position ensures efficient, accurate, and timely documentation of a variety of correspondence from taxpayers.
Description
Major duties of this position include:
- Document financial statements, various types of correspondence, returned mail, and scan Power of Attorneys into the Automated Collection Tracking (ACT) system. Document and mail warrant/garnishments to the employer and the taxpayer.
- Document garnishment responses. Create, document, and mail 1317 garnishment release letters to employers and taxpayers at the request of Revenue Agents. These positions will use ACT, Integrated Tax Accounting (ITA), Business information system (BIS), DMV, and other databases on a daily basis.
- Using various sources locate phone numbers, addresses, date of birth, and/or wages as requested by Revenue Agents or AS1. Document the information.
- Gather and maintain garnishment response documents as required by law for six months. Purge responses when they have aged the required time.
- Scan documents into filing enforcement NETS program for AS1’s.
Working conditions are in an open office environment. There are frequent interruptions, and continuous keyboarding to enter or retrieve data from personal computer. Sitting and concentrating for long periods of time, frequent reading of technical, materials, instructions, procedures, and taxpayers’ information; handling and carrying folders up to 20 lbs and sorting through many pages of documents.
What we’re looking for…
- one year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents;
OR
- completion of courses or training in Office Technology;
OR
- an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Credits and/or conferred degrees must be from an accredited college or university to qualify.
A photocopy of your transcripts must be submitted with your application form. Transcripts must clearly show 1) the name and address of the institution; 2) the degree received; 3) required courses completed with a passing grade.
To work for the Department of Revenue you must comply with all income tax laws. This means that the department will check to see if you have filed Oregon income tax returns and made arrangements to pay any outstanding liabilities before offering you a position.
Applicants will also be subject to a criminal history check. Circumstances of any criminal conviction will be reviewed to determine whether an applicant is accepted for employment.
