Oregon Unclaimed Property Information
What is Unclaimed Property?
NOTICE

Every November, Unclaimed Property staff members receive and process property for thousands of individuals and businesses whose unclaimed property has been delivered recently to the Department of State Lands. The value of this property exceeds $40 million annually.

More names will be added in the next few months, so check this site for your name regularly.
Oregon residents meet with staff to claim lost stock.

Perhaps you did not receive a utility deposit refund when you moved, or you suddenly stopped receiving dividends from stocks or mutual funds.  These are types of unclaimed property.

The goal of Oregon’s Unclaimed Property Program is to reunite as many people as possible with their money.

When the Department cannot find the rightful owner, unclaimed money is held in trust (while we continue to search). The interest earned benefits Oregon’s K-12 public schools, along with other income earned by the Department of State Lands through the Common School Fund.

To determine if the Department is holding funds for you, search for your name here. If you find your name, please print out an inquiry form, fill it out and mail it to the Department at the address on the form.

Due to heavy demands on our few staff, please allow from 30 to 120 days for a response.

Most accounts on the Internet have a value of $100 or less and are updated monthly.

The “lost” asset is not land.  The accounts on the Internet include money with a value of at least $10, and/or stock, mutual funds, and contents of safe deposit boxes.

If you moved to Oregon from another state and think you may have left unclaimed property there, visit the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) website at www.unclaimed.org which has links to other states’ unclaimed property program websites.

Also you may want to check the Oregon Department of Revenue website to see if they are holding an unclaimed refund check in your name.

DSL sells contents of safe deposit boxes at annual oral public auctions.
