Subcommittees of the Professional Development Committee

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance meetings are held monthly from 9:00-11:00 at the Community Action Agency located at 2475 Center St. NE Salem, 97301. For a current list of meeting dates please see the annual meeting calendar.

Purpose
The purpose of this subcommittee is to ensure a) standards for trainers and professional development activities are established, implemented, and maintained; b) professional development system evaluations are developed and implemented; and c) child care regulation and support for program enhancement and quality improvement systems provide a concrete foundation for overall quality assurance.

Goals
  • Provide input, guidance, and recommendations on policies and standards regarding the Oregon Registry, the Oregon Registry Trainer Program, the Oregon Registry Credentials Program, and Relationship-Based Professional Development and QRIS activities;
  • Provide a leadership function for ad hoc specialist workgroups that develop and evaluate standardized training curricula. These curricula have been developed for a) the Office of Child Care required training (funded through the Child Care and Development Fund) for licensing requirements, b) other Office of Child Care funded training, or c) training that comes to OCCD and Professional Development Committee through other avenues; and 
  • Provide guidance and support in designing framework for evaluating programs within the professional development system.

Access and Outreach

Access and Outreach meetings are held every other month from 9:30-11:00 at OCDC located at 9140 SW Pioneer Court, Suite E Wilsonville, 97070. For a current list of meeting dates please see the annual meeting calendar.

Purpose
This subcommittee will ensure a) that outreach efforts, activities and ongoing supports incorporate relevant cultural, ethnic, linguistic, or disability needs; b) that training and education offerings address the geographic and scheduling needs of the child care workforce; c) that relationship-based professional development opportunities are available in both informal and formal settings; and d) that there is a continuum or range of supports that minimize isolation and promote leadership opportunities. 

Goals

  • Increase and maintain access to training and outreach for Oregon's childhood care and education workforce; and
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on methods that providers use to access training information.

Qualifications, Credentials and Pathways

Qualifications, Credentials and Pathways meetings are held every other month from 9:00-12:00 at Oregon A.E.Y.C located at 5427 Glen Echo Ave, Suite A Gladstone, 97027. For a current list of meeting dates please see the annual meeting calendar

Purpose
This subcommittee will ensure a) that pre-service and ongoing training for licensing meets the needs of the child care workforce; b) that multiple, articulated pathways are available for the workforce to achieve a progression of training and education for credentials, certificates, and degrees; and c) that the professional development framework provides diverse opportunities that engage adult learners in professional growth. 

Goals

  • Examine licensing standards for training requirements, both pre-service and in-service. and make recommendations;
  • Provide professional development framework that creates diverse opportunities to engage adult learners in professional growth; and
  • Support multiple, articulated pathways for the workforce to achieve a progression of training and education from community-based through degree programs.
