Oregon Talent Council
The Oregon Talent Council was established by House Bill 2728 in July 2015 to address the critical gap in skilled talent across the state and promote economic growth.
Council is comprised of a diverse group of industry leaders from multiple sectors who are
committed to bringing together necessary constituencies, resources, and
knowledge to make strategic co-investments and be a loud voice
for growing high wage jobs in key industries across the state.
The legislation requires the development of a Talent Development Plan identifying talent issues and industry trends related to traded sector and high growth industries. Furthermore, $6.1 million for the 2015-2017 biennium is appropriated to the Oregon Talent Council Fund.
Our mission is to make Oregonians the first and
best choice of Oregon employers.
The Council has the following key objectives:
Inform – Provide cohesive and comprehensive industry
verified data on immediate and forecasted skill and occupation gaps.
Advise – Develop a statewide Talent Plan and make
strategically aligned recommendations to guide workforce, education and STEM
Catalyze – Invest in targeted efforts that address
critical talent gaps for Oregon’s traded sector and high growth industries.
Coordinate – Establish partnerships to promote coordination with workforce and education
partners around identified needs.
