If you are in the United States, you can file your initial application online through our Online Claims System, or by calling 1-877-345-3484.
To file your initial application from outside the country, you must call (503) 451-2400 and select option 1.
Beginning with weeks claimed on or after February 23, 2014, if you live outside the United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands or Palau you will no longer be considered available for work and will not be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. This is true even if you have legal authorization to work in the country of residence. There are a few exceptions:
If you are living in Canada and have work authorization in Canada, or
You are the spouse or domestic partner of an individual who is stationed at a US military base or US foreign embassy and all of the following conditions are met;
job opportunities exist on the military base or embassy for family members of those stationed there;
you live within a reasonable commuting distance of those job opportunities; and
you are willing to accept the prevailing conditions of the job opportunities.
If you did not work in Oregon during the last 18 months, you will need to contact the nearest Employment Department (sometimes referred to as Employment Security) office in a state where you worked.
