Awards to be handed out in May
The Oregon Employment Department’s state-of-the-art job matching system has been honored as a finalist in the prestigious Intergovernmental Solutions Awards, given each year by the American Council for Technology.

“We are so excited and grateful for this honor,” said Debbie Lincoln, Director of the Employment Department. “Our staff work very hard to make sure employers and job seekers have the best system possible to help improve Oregon’s economy. We thank the ACT for recognizing this innovative approach.”

A committee of government and industry IT professionals reviewed the more than sixty applications submitted and identified iMatchSkills as an award finalist because it clearly demonstrates the tremendous progress government agencies at all levels are accomplishing through collaboration and the innovative use of technology.  The committee considered six criteria in making their selection and iMatchSkills was found to excel in each of the following areas: intergovernmental and collaborative; innovative and effective use of technology; business transformation; available and transferable; impact and results; and technology leadership.

iMatchSkills uses occupations, licenses, education, and skills to provide a better way for employers to find qualified candidates and for job seekers to find open job opportunities that they might not have realized they are qualified for.

There are currently nearly 200,000 active accounts on the system, which each day lists thousands of job openings.

The 2005 ISA Awards will be presented at an awards luncheon taking place on Thursday, May 24th at the Hyatt at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia as part of the 25th Annual Management of Change Conference.

Kenneth Allen, Executive Director for the American Council for Technology said: “Thank you for your devotion to leading government transformation through technology.  Your program demonstrates the tremendous progress government agencies at all levels are accomplishing through collaboration and the innovative use of technology to achieve extraordinary business results.”
