Staying Prepared

The risk of a Hanford or CGS incident affecting Oregon is low, but the consequences could be severe. State and local emergency responders have plans in place to protect Oregon´s economy, agricultural resources and public health and safety.

The state of Oregon takes part in Hanford and CGS emergency planning and helps design cooperative and coordinated responses. State agencies like the Department of Energy and the Health and Emergency Management divisions help local emergency responders with training, equipment, planning and technical expertise.

Morrow County´s Hanford and CGS emergency preparedness activities are coordinated by Morrow County Emergency Management. Umatilla County Emergency Management coordinates the program for Umatilla County.

Frequent drills and full-scale, realistic exercises test responders´ readiness and ability to handle emergencies.
