Oregon Energy Resource Map Sources

Oregon is home to the full range of renewable energy resources (wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, ocean energy, low-impact hydro) and widely distributed conventional energy infrastructure. This atlas provides access to maps of those resources.

General Oregon Map Resources

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory also provides maps as static images at their Photographic Information eXchange. http://www.nrel.gov/data/pix/
The University of Oregon Library provides a collection of Oregon resources maps and arial photography resources at: http://libweb.uoregon.edu/map/
The Northwest Power and Conservation Council provides a map of energy generation facilities through out the NW. Those maps are at: http://www.nwcouncil.org/maps/power/Default.asp
The National Atlas Geographic Information System has significant public domain map data. http://www.nationalatlas.gov/atlasftp.html
Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries provides a wide variety of geologic resource maps on Oregon. http://www.oregongeology.org/sub/pub&data/pub&data.htm
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife develops many maps on Oregon resources as they pertain to wildlife. They do not maintain or vend maps themselves. Their map link page is at: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/swwd/maps_alt.html

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides mapping of the energy efficiency and renewable resource incentives nationwide: http://www.epa.gov/renewableenergyland/maps_incentives.htm
The Northwest Power and Conservation Council provides maps of energy generation facilities through out the northwest. Those maps are at: http://www.nwcouncil.org/maps/power/Default.asp
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory provides maps for each renewable energy resource nationwide. Many of the maps can be queried state specifically. http://www.nrel.gov/gis/maps.html
Google Maps with Purdue University has developed an interactive carbon dioxide emission map which includes data about Oregon. The maps show carbon dioxide emissions from factories, power plants and residential and commercial areas in Oregon and by county. The mapping system, called the Vulcan project, is based on 2002 data. http://www.purdue.edu/eas/carbon/vulcan/GEarth/index.html

Oregon Utilities

Bonneville Power Administration provides significant mapping regarding utility service areas in Oregon and the Northwest. http://www.transmission.bpa.gov/LanCom/Geographic_Information_Services/maps.cfm
The attached .pdf file provides a map of all the utility service territories in Oregon.
The Oregon Joint Utility Use Association provides mapping of Oregon utility infrastructure to include, electricity, natural gas, water, sewer and telecommunications. http://www.ojua.org/oregon-utility-mapping-project/

The Pacific Northwest Region of the US Department of Agriculture - Forest Service contains 19 National Forests, a National Scenic Area, a National Grassland, and two National Volcanic Monuments.
