A woman living with cancer gets help keeping her home and living on less income
"DW" has a life threatening cancer diagnosis, a cancer that has recently come out of remission. At the same time dealing with divorce and loss of the custody of her daughter. Due to the loss of her daughter in the household, her household income dropped 25%.
She found it difficult to cope, but also struggling to keep up with her bills. When she came to Community Action Team (a program funded by United Way of Columbia County) she was open to counseling about her monthly budgeting and spending. Community Action Team was able to provide financial counseling and was able to get her back on track.
