Claudia Black to Join Governor's Office as Health Policy Advisor
Salem – The Governor’s Office announced today that Claudia Black will be joining the staff as the Governor’s Health Policy Advisor. Ms. Black recently served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Oregon Medical Association.
As the Governor’s Health Policy Advisor, Ms. Black will work closely with the Department of Human Services and with the state’s health licensing boards. Her portfolio will include public health, seniors and persons with disabilities, health and wellness and long term care initiatives.
Ms. Black’s prior professional experience includes being the Associate Director of the Criminal Justice Policy Research Institute at Portland State University and the Executive Director of the Children’s Justice Alliance. She is also a board member for the Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon.
Ms. Black will succeed Ree Sailors, who has joined the staff of the Oregon Health Fund Board created by SB 329. Ms. Sailors will continue to advise the Governor on issues related to health care reform, in particular the design and financing of the insurance exchange called for in SB 329 and the design and implementation of the electronic medical records systems.
