The Office of Private Postsecondary Education oversees the quality, integrity, and diversity of private postsecondary programs in Oregon for the benefit of students and consumers. The Office includes Private Career Schools, described below, as well as the Office of Degree Authorization, which authorizes private degree-granting institutions and distance education providers, and Veterans Education which provides oversight of programs for veterans.
Private Career Schools
The Private Career Schools (PCS) Licensing Unit in the HECC Office of Private Postsecondary Education licenses private career schools and provides educational leadership, technical assistance, training, and support to over 208 private career schools in Oregon. In the interest of Oregon students, the PCS works closely with schools on licensing requirements, such as business and fiscal standards as well as instructional and curricular requirements.
