The Commission on Hispanic Affairs was created by the 1983 Legislative Assembly to work for the implementation of economic, social, legal, and political equality for Hispanics in Oregon. The Commission monitors existing programs and legislation to ensure that the needs of Hispanics in Oregon are met. The Commission researches problems and issues and recommends appropriate action, maintains a liaison between the Hispanic community and government entities, and encourages Hispanic representation on state boards and commissions.
Welcome Note Announcements
Welcome to the official website of the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs.

The Commission has served Oregon Latinos since 1983 working towards economic, social, political and legal equality. This generation of Latinos faces some challenging times and issues that make the Commissions work important to the community and to the State of Oregon. Your participation is equally important. While much remains to be done, the Commission is steadfast in its commitment to its mission to work toward economic, social and legal equality for Oregon's Hispanic population.

2011 Public Policy Internship Report by Rolando Cruz
Rolando Cruz
In 2011, the OCHA collaborated with the Office of Multicultural Health Services (OMHS) to host a Masters level Public Policy Intern on Migrant Health. Rolando Cruz, MS, Warner Pacific University, developed a literature review on Migrant Health in Oregon and reported his findings to the Commission and to OMHS. His report is the foundation of further study on Migrant Health at OMHS and provides needed insight on health issues of farm workers for OCHA in its public policy work in Oregon.
