Periodic Review & Technical Assistance
Sweet Creek, near Mapleton (By Laren Woolley)
2011-13 Periodic Review and Technical Assistance

The Department of Land Conservation and Development offers grants to local and tribal governments to complete projects that update and modernize comprehensive plans, land use ordinances, development codes and other planning regulations. The grants are provided to jurisdictions completing a structured
Periodic Review process and to jurisdictions with stand-alone planning projects.

Periodic Review grants are used for completing tasks on currently established work programs. Work program preparation is also an eligible use of Periodic Review grant funds, after existing work program work tasks are funded.

Technical Assistance grant awards are guided by the Grants Allocation Plan. The allocation plan lists priorities such as:
  • Economic development
  • Pre-2007 Periodic Review Work Program Tasks
  • Streamlining planning processes
  • Intergovernmental agreements
  • Updates to coordinated county-wide population projections
  • Infrastructure finance planning
Compliance with federal mandates and coordination with other grant opportunities are also recognized in the allocation plan as an important use of funds.

Available grant funds for 2011-13 have been awarded. The department will be accepting applications for the 2013-2015 biennium in the spring of 2013.
