The Oregon Mortuary & Cemetery Board has filed Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Hearing with the Secretary of State for publication in the May 1 2009 Oregon Bulletin
 
Notice was issued to the Board's licensees and interested parties via a postcard April 17 2009. 
Only one postcard has been mailed to each address on file, with a request to please distribute this information to all interested persons at each location.
 
The proposed amendments clarify or update terminology and practices, update statute numbers, reflect changes in statute, and implement plain language standards.  
 
A public hearing has been scheduled for 9am on May 20 2009 at 800 NE Oregon Street, Suite 445, Portland, OR  97232.  Written comment regarding the proposed rule amendments will be accepted through 4pm, May 20 2009.

Effective July 31 2009, the Board's Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) chapter 830 were revised, based upon the above rulemaking.  To view these new rules, click on the Laws and Rules link (on left).  *
 
The Board will continue to review the rules for further revision.  Future public discussions on the rules will be scheduled and announced for comment.  You may track this information here, on the Board website.  *
 
Please send an email request to the Board (mortuary.board@state.or.us) to be included in the Rules, Interested Parties email notification of future proposed rulemaking.  *
