Genentech, a leader in the biotechnology industry, has selected Hillsboro, Oregon, as the site for the construction and development of a state-of-the-art biotherapeutic "fill/finish" facility.

"We are very pleased to be joining the Oregon and Hillsboro business communities, and we thank Governor Kulongoski and the Oregon Economic & Community Development Department for their support," Patrick Y. Yang, Ph.D. said. "Oregon offers an advantageous business environment and its single-sales factor apportionment tax policy is particularly attractive to growing companies like Genentech. In addition, Oregon meets our needs for a high-quality available labor force and development-ready land with supporting infrastructure."

Genetech will locate its new campus on a state-certified approximately 100-acre site. The company expects to break ground on the facility in late 2006, with completion in 2008. The facility is expected to be licensed and operational by 2010.
