LMFT EXAMINATION

In order to be reviewed for possible entrance to an upcoming exam, applicants must have provided all necessary information and forms for the Board to review. Applicants for the LMFT exam must have completed both the degree and work experience requirements before being authorized to take the exam. Please keep in mind that it may take several months to review an application once it has been received.

For Oregon LMFT, the Board will recognize documented passage of the PES Licensing Examination for Marital and Family Therapy taken in other states and the California MFCC written and oral sections.

The Board uses the national Marital and Family Therapy Examination which is a computer based test administered by the Professional Examination Service (PES) through Prometric Tompson Learning Centers. The Board must notify PES of the persons scheduled to sit for the exam at least 10 weeks prior to the opening of the testing window. We will mail the exam registration packets around that same time period. Applicants will be paying PES directly. PES has notified the Board that it will be charging $220 for the exam plus an additional $75 for use of the administration site for a total of $295.

The Board does not provide a study guide and does not have a list of who offers those materials.
