Thomas R. King - Board Chair (Radiographer Member)
Thomas King - OBMI Board Chair
Thomas King, MBA, BSRS, RT (R) - Thomas is Chairperson of the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging and is the Radiography Member to the board. He is sincere in promoting all professional aspects of medical imaging. Since I began my journey in radiologic technology, my goal has been and still is to promote the profession and protect the integrity of the profession. Thomas believes all Oregonians have a right to receive top quality radiologic exams from professional providers.
Graduated in 2004 from Portland Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology, Associate of Science and General Studies.
Graduated in 2007 Magna Cum Laude from Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, Orlando, Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Radiologic Science
Weekend Imaging Coordinator at Salem Hospital (until August 31, 2008)
Radiologic Technologist at Salem Hospital (after August, 31, 2008)

Frank Krause - Vice Chair (Sonographer Member)
Frank Krause - OBMI Vice Chair
Frank J. Krause, BS, RDCS, FASE - Frank serves as the Director of Clinical Implementations and Outreach for Providence Medical Group in Portland. He has a Bachelors Degree in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound from Seattle University and BS equivalent in Avionics he earned during his service in the United States Navy. Frank is a Clinical Instructor for Seattle University, serves on committees for both the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and is a past President of the Willamette Valley Society of Echocardiography.  He currently serves as the Board Vice-Chairperson.
 
As the Sonography Member to the board, Frank’s goal is to advocate for the patient by promoting the highest standards for professional ethics and training from all providers. This will set a base to help ensure competency and quality patient care for all types of exams provided.
 
Frank Krause’s second term on the board runs from September 2011 until September 2014.

 
 

 
 

Jacob Abraham - Physician Member (Cardiologist)

Jacob Abraham, M.D. – Jacob is currently a noninvasive Cardiologist and one of the Physician Members with Columbia Cardiology Associates (Soon to become Providence St. Vincent Heart Clinic 7/2010).  He has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Rhodes College. Dr. Abraham received his M.D. degree and performed his internship, residency, chief residency, and fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland.  He has extensive experience with cardiac ultrasound and is board certified in Nuclear Cardiology.  He also has received training in cardiac CT. Dr. Abraham moved to Oregon last year.

Kimberly Earp - Radiation Therapy Member
Kimberly Earp - OBMI Board Member
Kimberly Earp MBA, RT(R)(T) -  Kim is the Radiation Therapy Member to the board.  She has over  twenty years of experience in the field of radiologic technology and radiation therapy.  She has been very active in the American Society of Radiologic Technology, serving on various committees and the editorial review board for the Radiologic Technology and Radiation Therapist professional journals.  She is the Chief Therapist in Radiation Oncology, Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT at Adventist Medical Center in Portland.  She has also been the Radiation Safety Officer at Adventist for nine years and has actively worked with Oregon’s Radiation Protection Services to assure a safe environment for patients and employees.
 
Kim is very interested in promoting professionalism in the radiologic technology sciences and public understanding and assurance of the safe use of X-Rays and radioisotopes.  She feels the active involvement interested professionals and the public lead to improved safety for everyone and is pleased to be serving the public on the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.
 
Kim’s second term on the board runs from September 2011 until September 2014.
 

David Farthing - Physician Member (Radiologist)

David Farthing, M.D. – David is a Radiologist and one of the Physician Members presently working with Salem Radiology Consultants primarily at the Salem Hospital.  He has been resident of Oregon since 2003.  He was recruited to the Salem Hospital from Southwest Neuro Imaging of Phoenix, Arizona.  His credentials include being a Diplomat of American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology.  He has been an RSO.  He is currently licensed and practicing Nuclear Medicine imaging and therapy, PET imaging, as well as all standard radiology department imaging modalities.  Dr. Farthing’s M.D. degree is from University of California at Davis School of Medicine and his undergraduate B.S. is from California State University at Long Beach. 
David hopes to maintain the high standards of the American College of Radiology in all imaging modalities providing patient care.  He is new to the Board.

David Howe - Advisory Member

David Howe, Section Manager, serve as one of our Advisory Members to the Board of Medical Imaging David is employed with the Radiation Protection Services (RPS) Section in the Public Health Division of the Oregon Health Authority.  Radiation Protection Services works to promote the health and safety of the people in Oregon by protecting them from unnecessary exposure to radiation. Radiation exposure can come from a variety of sources including: X-ray equipment, radioactive materials, tanning beds and other radiation-generating devices.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 
 

Wayne Lemler - Magnetic Resonance Imaging Member
Wayne Lemler - OBMI Board Member
Wayne Lemler, RT(R) (MR), A.A.S., B.S., MBA (HCA), a resident of Elmira, recently retired from McKenzie Willamette Medical Center in Springfield, where he was employed as lead MRI technologist. His past experience in radiology includes posts as director of diagnostic imaging, assistant director of diagnostic imaging, chief technologist, and adjunct faculty in radiologic sciences. Wayne’s focus is to insure that Oregonians receive the highest quality diagnostic imaging procedures, and to insure that these services are provided in an ethical, efficacious and safe manner. Wayne currently fills the MRI Technologist position on the board.

Margaret Lut - Advisory Member (Health Physicist)

Bill McMillen - Public Member
Bill McMillen - OBMI Public Board Member
Bill McMillen joins OBMI as a public member after serving as OBMI’s Interim Director for several months in 2010 and 2011. He moved to Oregon in 1975 and earned his MBA from Willamette University. He has served as CFO for several not-for-profit organizations in the Portland Community, as well as serving an earlier appointment to the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine. He spent six years as an Oregonian in exile working in the Bay Area before returning to his home in Lake Oswego. He now works for the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. His board experience spans a broad spectrum of organizations involved in public health, community service and the environment.

An important aspect of his life is family – his wife, a key support staff member in the President’s office at OHSU, a son, three step daughters and one eccentric dog Stella.

Bill is serving his first term on the Board.
 
 
 
 

William Purnell, Jr. - Physician Member (Radiologist)
William Purnell, Jr. - OBMI Board Member
William Purnell Jr., M.D. - Bill is a Radiologist and one of the Physician Members on the Board. He practices at Mission Medical Imaging, located in his home town of Salem. Dr. Purnell received a BA in Biology from Whitman College and his medical degree at OHSU in Portland. He took an internship year at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and his radiology residency at the University of Vermont in Burlington. He also completed fellowships in Body Imaging at UVM and in MRI at the University of California in San Diego before returning to Salem in 1991. Bill is a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology. He has served as Chapter President of the Oregon Radiological Society, Councilor to the American College of Radiology and President of the Marion-Polk County Medical Society.
 
Dr. Purnell supports the American College of Radiology Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, the ACR Appropriateness Criteria and the mission of the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.

Shirlee Templeton - Nuclear Medicine Technology Member
Shirlee Templeton Nuclear Medicine Tech. Member
Shirlee Templeton, BS, CNMT as the Nuclear Medicine Technology Member to the board has more than 15 years experience as a Nuclear medicine technologist and is currently on the faculty of Oregon Institute of Technology where she teaches in the Medical Imaging Program and is the Radiation Safety Officer.   She loves teaching and helping young people become professionals.  She holds professional membership in the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
 
Besides many years of clinical experience, she frequently travels to Honduras to teach nuclear medicine in a nonprofit cancer clinic and lecture at the National University of Honduras.
 
She is very interested in the activities of the Board and wants to contribute to ensuring that patients in Oregon receive services from caring professionals who are properly qualified and credentialed. 
 
Shirlee is serving her first term on the Board.

 
 

Pamela Warren - Public Member
Pam Warren - OBMI Public Board Member
Pamela Warren, appointed as a public member in April, 2011, has been employed in the healthcare industry for the past twenty eight years.  She is presently the Specialty Manager for Providence Medical Group in Newberg, while also pursuing a degree in healthcare administration.  Pam’s work in a multi-specialty clinic gives her a good understanding of the challenges of health reform and the need to control costs.
