The Board of Massage Therapists protects the public through regulating the practice of massage by balancing the needs of the public and Licensed Massage Therapists through development, implementation and continued improvement in the areas of public safety, boundaries and ethics that will reflect the high standards set within the massage therapy profession.

Written Examination Requirements!
MBLEx - Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam exclusive as of July 1, 2008!
Effective July 1, 2008 all applicants for licensure must have taken and passed the MBLEx administered by the states via the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. Applicants who have taken and passed a previously accepted board approved written exam prior to July 1, 2008 may submit proof of passing in lieu of the MBLEx requirement.

Comprehensive rules changes adopted January 16, 2009!

The OBMT wished to take a moment to publicly thank the dedicated professionals who served on the rules committee and contributed over the last couple of years to the comprehensive review of both Statute and Administrative Rule. This team of tireless individuals spent literally hundreds of hours reviewing and considering each and every aspect of Statute and then Rule to increase readability, update practices and terminology and streamline processes.
