Limited Permits

Limited Permits to practice psychology in Oregon are available to licensed psychologists from other jurisdictions for time specific periods.  The Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners may grant permits for up to 180 calendar days and expire no later than 6 months after the date the permit is granted.  OAR 858-010-0055 is the administrative rule regarding Limited Permits.

There are two types of permits

  • The Visitors Permit is for out-of-state psychologists that do not intend to seek full licensure in Oregon, but are providing service in Oregon and then will return to their home state.
  • The Temporary Permit is for psychologists who hold licenses in another state. Temporary permit holders must also apply for licensure through the standard process.
