Alcohol and Drug Abuse - Youth Prevention

GENERAL COMMENTS:

Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug use and abuse are significant problems for youth. Substance abuse can lead to larger social problems such as truancy, teen pregnancy, and juvenile delinquency. Comprehensive programs addressing the prevention of drug and alcohol use and abuse enhance adolescents' resiliency and ability to succeed. The most effective programs reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors. 1
