About Us
Working to prevent consumer fraud and ensure fair competition in the marketplace.
Vision
Ensure fairness for both consumers and businesses in Oregon. Consumers can be confident that the weight or measure of food and nonfood products, services or commodities purchased in Oregon is accurate. Retailers can be confident they are competing on a level playing field.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Weights and Measures Program is four-fold:
  • Prevent fraud by ensuring that weighing and measuring devices used in commerce are accurate and correctly used,
  • Prevent fraud through transaction verifications and by checking packaged products for correct net contents and labeling,
  • Ensure that motor fuels meet national standards for quality, and
  • Provide official and traceable mass, volume, and length calibration services.

Annual Performance Measures

The Weights and Measures Program has 27 employees serving the people of Oregon. The program's field inspectors are strategically located throughout the state, ensuring equity in the marketplace for Oregon's metropolitan and rural communities.
