What is proposed?
The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is proposing to renew Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit #01-2009 coverage for 8 CAFOs located in Area I, (Tillamook County) 1 CAFO located in Area II, (Yamhill County), 1 CAFO located in Area III, (Marion County), 2 CAFOs located in Area IV (Coos, and Josephine counties), and 1 CAFO located in Area VI, (Malheur County). The CAFO NPDES General Permit #01-2009 regulates the manure, litter, and process waste water generated by CAFOs to ensure that CAFO activities do not harm water quality.

Opportunity for public hearing
A public hearing will be scheduled for the above proposals if written requests are received during the comment period from at least ten (10) persons or from an organization or organizations representing at least ten (10) persons. If a hearing is scheduled, ODA will provide at least 30 days notice before the hearing is held. The public comment period will remain open for an additional seven (7) days after the public hearing.

ODA will review and consider all comments received during the comment period. Following this review, ODA may proceed as proposed, request that modifications be made to the application, or deny permit coverage.
