Proposal for a New Medium Confined Beef Feedlot CAFO in Area 6

Notice of Public Participation Opportunity

Notice issued: March 5, 2014
Written comments due: 5 p.m., April 9, 2014

What is proposed?

The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is proposing to issue a registration to the Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit #01-2009 for a Medium Confined beef feedlot with a maximum number of 900 beef cattle. Riverside Ranch Cattle LLC, MA# 995020, is owned and operated by Justin Jacobs and is located at 2456 Hwy 20, Vale, Oregon in Malheur County.

The CAFO NPDES General Permit #01-2009 regulates the manure, litter, and process waste water generated by CAFOs to ensure that CAFO activities do not harm water quality.

For more information on this CAFO, see the application to register (ATR), Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS), and Animal Waste Management Plan (AWMP) Summary for Riverside Ranch Cattle LLC.
