Regulations Change for Mini-Bulks

The Pesticide Container and Containment Rule, published by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), creates national uniformity in pesticide tank design, labeling, maintenance and refilling procedures. EPA’s goal of the Rule is to protect users and the environment from pesticide exposure and release and facilitate disposal and recycling of pesticide containers. The Rule becomes effective August 16, 2011. After this date mini-bulk containers that do not meet the EPA Rule can no longer be refilled.

More information on which containers meet the EPA Rule can be found here:
Including a table-summary of requirements here:

Farmers and ag chemical dealerships that have obsolete mini-bulks are encouraged to recycle the containers through Agri-Plas in Brooks, OR.

ODA encourages agricultural facilities to take the lead in providing a consolidation site at their facilities for the collection of obsolete mini-bulks from customers and others. Please note that Oregon Administrative Rules prohibit the burning of pesticide containers, including mini-bulks.
