History in Oregon
The stem boring weevil Mecinus janthinus was introduced into seven counties in 2001. The weevil has been recovered in several of those counties. This is a promising agent as stand reductions have already been observed at several sites in Oregon. Several nursery populations in Oregon became collectible in 2004.
