History in Oregon
The root boring moth Pelochrista medullana was first released in Hood River County in 1999. One adult was recovered in 2000 and an additional release was made at the site. The moth has been very difficult to establish in the western U.S. Adults were obtained from Montana in order to establish a field insectary site in an area with less severe winters, but no agents have been recovered since 2000.
