The Plant Division includes four sections: Insect Pest Prevention & Management, Native Plant Conservation, Noxious Weed Control, and Nursery & Christmas Tree. The Division's programs protect Oregon's agricultural industries and natural environment from harmful plant pests, diseases and noxious weeds; enhance the value and marketability of exported nursery stock, Christmas trees, seeds and other agricultural products; and further the conservation of threatened and endangered plants.

Oregon nursery licenses
A license issued by the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is required by anyone operating as a grower or dealer of nursery stock in Oregon. The department offers three different types of nursery licenses, including one for dealers, one for greenhouse growers of herbaceous plants, and one for wholesale growers and collectors of native plants. Exceptions include businesses whose total sales do not exceed $250 per fiscal year and/or landscaping businesses or brokers that do not grow or store live plant material for more than one year.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture has regulations for nursery stock moving into and out of Oregon. For more information about state regulations, please review the plant quarantines page. Contact the nursery inspector in your area regarding regulations for international shipments

ODA Administered S&P Noxious Weed Small Grants Program
Now accepting applications!
The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is requesting proposals to allocate State and Private(S&P) Forest Health funds received through an agreement from the US Forest Services Pacific Northwest Region to support a small grants program for the control of noxious weeds. Application deadline has been extended to December 8, 2009.
Oregon State Weed Board Grant Program
Now accepting applications!
The Oregon State Weed Board (OSWB) invites you to apply for grant funding for noxious weed control projects related to the protection and enhancement of watersheds and fish and wildlife. This will be the second cycle for the 2009-11 biennium and the 21st cycle overall. Specific criteria will be outlined within the grant application. Application deadline has been extended to December 8, 2009.
