PRINCIPAL EXECUTIVE/MANAGER E
(Assessment & Accountability Reporting Manager)

$5,697 - $8,774 MONTHLY


GENERAL INFORMATION
  • There is currently one permanent, full-time position available with the Office of Assessment & Information Services (OAIS) at the Oregon Department of Education in Salem.
  • The work of OAIS affects every school, program, school district and Education Service District (ESD) in the state.  Nearly all students in the state of Oregon public school system are affected by the work in this office.  Data is collected from nearly every educational administrative unit.
  • This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified people, and may be used to fill vacancies as they occur.
  • Applicants will be subject to a thorough background investigation including driving record.  Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.
  • Applicants will be subject to a Computerized Criminal History check.  Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude an appointment.  The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
  • This position is management service and not represented by a union
  • Note:  District employee’s sick leave may be transferable.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
This position will manage staff and processes associated with the collection of key data elements used for the State School Fund and for high stakes accountability reports.  Major duties include:
  • Develop policies and procedures regarding reporting and analysis, and internal and external release of statewide assessment and accountability data.
  • Develop policies and procedures regarding quality control for data used in statewide accountability reports, and internal and external releases of statewide assessment and accountability data.
  • Coordinate with managers of testing design and administration and psychometrics to develop and monitor project timelines associated with the reporting and analysis of assessment and accountability data.
  • Prepare project budgets based on statewide project requirements; coordinate with test design and psychometrics managers to track, monitor and recommend adjustments as the project progresses.
  • Write and review requests for proposals as required to design and implement the statewide accountability and assessment reporting system.
  • Manage data requirements of contractors as they relate to needs of the agency.
  • Supervise staff involved in assessment and accountability; assign and approve work of assessment and accountability reporting staff; and evaluate professional development needs.
  • Act as liaison to districts, statewide and national groups as required to improve assessment and accountability reporting practices.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Some overnight statewide with some out of state travel to local school districts and regional educational service districts.  Scheduling flexibility is required and workload demands frequently exceed 40 hours per week.  You must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate method of transportation. 
 

TO QUALIFY
 
Your PD100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the requirements stated in this section.  To receive credit, your application form must clearly show that you have:
  •  three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for: a) development of program rules and policies, b) long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, AND d) budget preparation

  1. quality control for high stakes technical reports, and
