The Solar Eclipse 2017 is a worldwide event headed to Oregon on Monday, August 21 - during Oregon's peak wildfire month. The Oregon Department of Forestry is working closely with other agency partners to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for eclipse viewers throughout Oregon. ODF's main objective is to ensure public and employee safety while carrying out the agency mission of preventing wildfires and protecting resources. Oregon is the first state in the Path of Totality – a path of total darkness approximately 80 miles wide crossing the U.S. from coast to coast. Approximately one million visitors are expected in Oregon in the days prior to and immediately following the eclipse, which will occur at around 10:20 a.m.
