Overview of the Oregon Forestland-Urban Interface Fire Protection Act in Jackson County
More than 9,000 Jackson County landowners affected by the Act received notices in 2005 from the Oregon Department of Forestry that they must make their homes and properties less vulnerable to wildland fire. The grace period on fire cost recovery liability ended in July 2007. More than 2,100 landowers returned self-certification cards. All cards issued by ODF in 2005 become void in July 2010, at which time ODF will issue new cards to landowners.
The Jackson County Forestland-Urban Interface Classification Committee convenes again in fall 2009.
