Notifications
Western Lane District is divided into three Stewardship Forester areas. Two of the district´s stewardship foresters are located at the Veneta office, while one is located at the Florence office (Map of Stewardship Forester Areas). Before beginning a commercial operation on forest lands within Western Lane´s district contact the Veneta office at 541-935-2283 or the Florence office at 541-997-8713, or Email the individual Foresters. You can also download Notification forms from the ODF web site and fax or mail them into our office. In order for a notification to be accepted as complete, a map highlighting the area where the operation will take place is required.
RENEWALS OF NOTIFICATIONS
Renewing is an easy and fast way to notify for an operation that you need to continue into the following year. On December 15th, 2009 we will begin accepting requests for renewals on operations. You can only renew a single notification once (ex. 2009 to 2010, not 2008 to 2009 to 2010). If you want to renew your 2009 notification of operation, download the Request for Renewal. The last day to submit a renewal in the Western Lane District is February 28th.

Slash Burning
Land owners planning to burn slash following a logging operation in Western Lane District need to contact the Western Lane office in Veneta to register for burning (click to download Smoke Management Registration Form). A burning permit is then required to burn on approved days. You can check the Smoke Management advisory, but contact the Western Lane District office before burning. Following your burn you´ll need to call the office to report your accomplishments. For more information call: (541) 935-2283.
Fire Season
Fire Season brings requirements for industrial operations. These requirements include fire fighting equipment, power saw exhaust screens, and others. Western Lane District has a Fire Watch Service Waiver Policy (Click to see policy ). Watch this page for up-to-date Industrial Precaution Levels when Fire Season is in effect.
