| Entry Level Positions |
|
Forest Officer
Must be currently qualified as Firefighter 1 under the National Interagency Incident Management System (NIIMS); OR six months wildland fire fighting experience and training equivalent to S130 and S190, which would qualify you at the NIIMS Firefighter 1 level.
Forest Management Technician
Eighteen months experience working in the field related to young growth management, reforestation, or time sale preparation; OR an Associate Degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Forest Recreation, Fire Protection, or a related natural resource field of study; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Employees must obtain and maintain the required motor vehicle license for the position. Some positions may require a Public Herbicide Applicators License after appointment.
Natural Resources Specialist 1
A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field (such as Wildlife Management, Biology, Botany, Plant Pathology); OR three years of experience in forest road location and design, cruising timber, harvesting timber, reforestation, or young growth management.

| Professional Level Positions |
|
Natural Resources Specialist 2
Two years of experience in forestry and Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, or three additional years of related experience; OR one year of experience in Forestry, and a Master’s degree in Forestry.
Natural Resources Specialist 3
Three years of experience in Forestry. At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities; AND a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, or three additional years of related experience. A Master’s Degree in Forestry will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

| Management Service Positions |
|
Forest Unit Supervisor 1
A Bachelor's degree in Forestry; or an Associate degree in Forest Management, Forest Engineering, or Wildland Fire Management and two years of experience in forest road location and design; cruising timber; harvesting timber; reforestation; young growth management; or wildland fire suppression. (If the Associate's degree is not in Wildland Fire Management, one of the two years must be in wildland fire suppression); or three years of experience in forest road location and design; cruising timber; harvesting timber; reforestation; young growth management; or wildland fire suppression. One of the three years has to be in wildland fire suppression.
Forest Unit Supervisor 2
Two years of forestry experience in technical and professional forestry practices. This experience must include forest engineering; cruising timber including cruise design; participation in fire presuppression and suppression activities; harvesting timber; reforestation; inspecting logging operations; or providing forestry advice to private woodland owners. One year of this experience must include responsibility for directing the work of others involved in forestry-related activities; AND a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field (such as Wildlife Management, Biology, Botany, Plant Pathology, Forest Engineering, Civil Engineering) or three more years of relevant experience.

|
Office Specialist 1
Completion of courses or training in office technology; or one year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Office Specialist 2
Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; or an Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; or graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Executive Support Specialist 2
One year of experience performing administrative duties in support of agency projects or programs. Qualifying experience would involve data collection and analysis; project evaluation and/or analysis; interpretation and application of laws, rules, and regulations; or similar experience.

| Accounting Positions |
|
Accounting Technician 2
Two years of technical support accounting experience. One year of the experience must include the calculation, recording, and maintenance of routine accounting information; or at least 36 quarter (24 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) hours in accounting. Training or experience must include operating a ten-key calculator by touch and using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
Accounting Technician 3
Three years of technical support accounting experience. Two years of the experience must include a) coding transactions and checking them for propriety, b) balancing, and c) resolving discrepancies in computer edits; or at least 90 quarter (60 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (9 semester) hours in accounting. Training or experience must include operating a ten-key calculator by touch and using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
Accountant 1
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting; or a Bachelor's degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 30 quarter (20 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must be upper division from a system of higher education (four-year institution accredited to grant Baccalaureate degrees); or 30 quarter (20 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must be upper division from a system of higher education (four-year institution accredited to grant Baccalaureate degrees); and two years doing independent research and analysis which included making recommendations that resolved issues; or 30 quarter (20 semester) credit hours in any of the following: accounting principles, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, finance, business law, cost accounting, accounting information systems, or auditing; and two years of accounting experience a) classifying, analyzing, and reconciling complex financial data and records; b) designing, recommending, and installing modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records; c) preparing audited financial statements and reports; d) analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; and e) analyzing and interpreting complex accounts and account relationships resulting in accounting entries.

|
Informations Systems Specialist 3
A Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in computer science; or an Associate degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 30 quarter (20 semester) computer science creditsand one year of information systems experience in (agency will specify infrastructure specialties); or three years of information systems experience in (agency will specify infrastructure specialties).

Informations Systems Specialist 5
Three years of professional consultative, technical, or administrative experience which includes designing, constructing, or analyzing information systems. Experience must include activities in (agency will specify infrastructure specialties); and either (a) at least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; or (b) two more years of experience providing a knowledge of information systems theory and principles; or (Agencies specify the education and/or experience that indicates possession of the knowledge and skills required as a minimum for the position.)

| Communications Positions |
|
Public Information Representative 2
Three years of experience as a public relations representative for an organization which involved, gathering information, writing and/or producing materials, presenting information to the public, handling public relations, preparing press releases, and interaction with the news media. At least one year of this experience must have involved participating in planning and administering an organization's public relations program. A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a closely-related field may substitute for up to two years of the general experience but will not substitute for the one year of specialized experience.
Communications Systems Analyst 1
Graduation as an electronic technician from a recognized school of electronic technology; or one year of experience installing, maintaining, or repairing telecommunication equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Communications Systems Analyst 2
Three years of full-time experience in the installation, operation, and repair of telecommunication equipment; and possession of Federal Communications Commission General Radio Telephone License or equivalent industrial certification. Graduation as an electronic technician from a recognized school of electronic technology may be substituted for two of the three years of qualifying experience.

|
Transportation Engineer 1
A Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation-related engineering; and one year of professional-level engineering experience; or a valid Professional Engineer's license in Civil or Transportation (PE), a Professional Land Surveyor's license (PLS), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate, a Engineer-In-Training (EIT), a Fundamentals of Land Surveying (FLS) certificate, or a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT); and one of professional-level civil or transportation related engineering experience; or eight (8) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience. One of the eight years must have been performing professional-level engineering duties.
Transportation Engineer 2
A Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation-related Engineering; and two years of professional-level engineering experience; or a valid Professional Engineer's license in Civil or Transportation (PE), a Professional Land Surveyor's license (PLS), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate, a Engineer-In-Training (EIT), Fundamentals of Land Surveying (FLS) certificate, or a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT); and two years of professional-level civil or transportation-related engineering experience; or nine (9) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience.
