The private land closure information found here is supplied during fire season and is provided by each participating landowner and coordinated by the Oregon Forest Industries Council (OFIC). Hopefully it is as current as operationally possible, but when in doubt most landowners have provided a phone number for your benefit.
The rationale that reflect landowner access policies and limitations are for various reasons. Many of them are beyond strictly fire related risks and those legal restrictions already in place by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF). Closure logic here.
On behalf OFIC and our participating members of the Corporate Closures Information, we thank the public for their understanding and support of using access restrictions to their private timberlands as an effective Prevention tool when necessary. Oregon continues to be at even higher risk in the third year of exceptional drought conditions. There has been significant cost and loss of both public and private resources from wildfires in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Preventing just one accidental human caused fire under these extreme conditions is our goal. We appreciate your cooperation in protecting these resources and the habitat they provide to Oregon’s fish, wildlife and recreational opportunities.
