Public safety information - Elliott State Forest
View looking west from the Elliott State Forest
The Oregon Department of Forestry implemented temporary road gating restrictions within the Elliott State Forest starting September 2, 2011 to improve public safety for all forest users within the Elliott State Forest and to ensure the State’s ability to meet contractual obligations for timber sale harvests.

A top priority for the Oregon Department of Forestry is safety for all forest users within the Elliott State Forest including reducing potential conflicts from vehicles encountering heavy equipment, log trucks and other traffic associated with timber sale activities on narrow gravel forest roads.

Persons or businesses needing vehicle access to a closed road for authorized business should contact the ODF Coos District office in Coos Bay at 541-267-4136.

There are currently no timber sale area closures in effect. Road 8100 remains gated due to ongoing maintenance issues.
