Most of this 93,000-acre forest northeast of Coos Bay is owned by the State Land Board (the Governor, Secretary of State, and State Treasurer). The Oregon Department of Forestry manages the land through an agreement with the Oregon Department of State Lands, the administrative arm of the Land Board.
The land is managed by state Constitutional mandate to generate revenue for Oregon’s public schools; this is done in a context of sound natural resource management.
