Fire Season
As of July 1, 2014, Fire Season is in effect in Western Lane District.
Fire Closures
On July 11, 2014, Regulated Use Closure went into effect in all of Western Lane District.

Private Forest Program 
The Private Forest Program has four stewardship foresters in Western Lane. Robin BieseckerDan Menk and Brian Peterson are located in the Veneta office and a fourth forester Jim Hall, is located in the Florence office. The stewardship foresters administer Oregon's Forest Practice Act and apply it to both industrial and non industrial private operations.
State Forest 
Western Lane District is one of 9 districts in the state that manage State Forests.
Western Lane is not able to offer recreation activity in our state forests mainly due to the location of the lands within the district.  For information on State Forest Recreation in other areas around Oregon, please visit ODF Salem Recreation.

State Parks
Western Lane District protects 755,147 acres of Forest Land in western Lane County and parts of Northern Douglas County.  In the Private Forest program, district stewardship foresters administer the Oregon Forest Practice Act working with both industrial and non-industrial forest land owners.  The district's State Forest Program manages 26,000 acres of state owned forest land.
Fire Protection 
The District's fire protection program offers fire prevention, fire detection, pre-suppression activities, and fire suppression. The main headquarters located in Veneta is supported by a subunit office in Florence.
Back Yard Burning and Smoke Management
Backyard burning in Lane County is managed by the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency. As of June 15, 2014, back yard burning is prohibited in Lane County until October. To check on the backyard burning regulations please visit the LRAPA-Backyard Burning Program.
