Suggested lead: Open on Mondays and closed during lunch: two southern Oregon DMV offices are adjusting hours

To balance customer needs with available staff, Driver and Motor Vehicles continues to make adjustments in hours at field offices around the state. The latest two offices to be affected are Cottage Grove and Ashland.

House: The business hours at two of DMV’s southern Oregon field offices are going to change in early March. Ashland, which is open Tuesday through Friday, is going to be open Mondays, too. :10

Both offices, however, will now be closed for an hour during lunchtime, according to DMV Public Information Officer David House.

House: The office hours are going to be from 9 a.m. to 5 pm., Monday through Friday, with lunch closures from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each day at both Ashland and Cottage Grove, starting March 4. :11

Over the past several years, DMV has reduced staffing as a response to budget cuts. Many transactions can now be done online.

House: It is always a good idea to check oregondmv.com before you go to a field office. There are a couple of major transactions you can do at the convenience of your computer; you can change your address; you can renew most passenger vehicles and RVs online instead of doing it by mail or going in person and you can also report the sale of your vehicle if you happen to sell your personal vehicle or RV, you can do that online, too. :27
