A long-time ODOT veteran died in a workplace accident today. 54-year old Donald Kendall was killed during a chip seal paving operation in Eastern Oregon.
Details of exactly what happened are not known at this time. Kendall was a transportation maintenance specialist 2--one of ODOT's many maintenance crew members who help keep our highways safe. He worked for ODOT for more than 29 years, operating snowplows and graders and helping stranded citizens.
"The ODOT family lost one of our own today," said ODOT Deputy Director Paul Mather. "We all feel his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fellow workers."
A memorial blog is available for people to leave words of comfort for Don's family and friends.
