The Oregon Department of Transportation’s draft "Public Involvement Policy" was approved for a final review at the April meeting of the Oregon Transportation Commission. The public is invited to provide input to the draft policy through June 11. The update is needed to meet federal and state public participation requirements in carrying out statewide transportation planning processes. The new policy provides guidance to state and regional transportation planners on how to provide early, continuous and effective involvement of communities, stakeholders and the public in the development of plans and programs.

The draft document is available online at http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/TD/TP/LRPU.shtml. For a written copy or alternative formats, contact ODOT Planning at (503) 986-3510 or vanitha.murthy@odot.state.or.us or send a request to:

Comments can be provided online, via email or in writing at the addresses above. The OTC is expected to consider input and approve the final version this summer.
