According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

• From 2010-2020, there are projected to be 1.8 million jobs created in the construction industry nationwide.
• The national median age of people employed in the construction industry was 41.6 in 2011 and at that time there were 30.9% people aged 55 or older in the labor force and roughly 28.8 million employed.
• In 2011, the average weekly earnings nationally in the construction industry were $973.51 compared to $793.10 for all other industries.

There is a severe shortage of trained, skilled workers in over 25 professions in the construction trades which is directly tied to the economic prosperity of our state.
